Allegiance Vault Battle
PVT_Drydorn Squadron Leader for the 102nd Privateers recollects Sunday night's invitational battle:
PVT_Drydorn here...
just dropping you guys a note about the game tonite. Purple won ( TC I think ) Gold came in second ( PVT ) Blue 3rd ( RDF ) Green 4th ( FS. )
I started the game room at around 9PM EST, since noone else had. =) Just taking the initiative. it was a 15-25 player game and we had the full 100 players for most of the game. well until the teams started to die. Map was "Large Split" I believe. A very kool map I think, all teams starting with 2 garrisons.
PVT lost 2 TAC labs & our outer Garrison to green early, and never got them back, but we mounted a persistant defense. Using, of all things, Gunships very effectively to kill off the enemy DEV's. $0 for a gunship vs. $5,000 for a DEV, good trade off I think. =) MK3 skycap turrets on gunships are very kool.
I threw up an Expansion lab about 3/5th into the game, only because it was the only asteriod available in the HQ, and I wanted more than just a garrison. Built up some ints tech too. Rebuilt a SY, and ended up teaming up with purple to kill blue. ( who had been pinning us down for a while now.) After blue was dead, I tried to sneak in an advanced RIP on purple, but it failed. they soon after purple dropped a telleprobe in our HQ and stormed in with like 10 DEV's. Ah well, it was a great game, total play time, about 2:50.

Another Allegiance mentionIt seems whenever the words "multiplayer" and "space sim" collide, Allegiance is brought up immediately. Allegiance is mentioned several times in pc.ign.com's Tachyon review.

Pressing Questions
Yesterday's thread about the Allegiance Zone vs. Free Zone yielded some very lively conversation. I am sure this topic will cause just as much conversation. It's a new day, and a new question.
Today's question should be of benefit to both commanders and pilots. You can find the thread, located right here.
What is your favorite tech path? Do you enjoy commanding while persuing one tech path more than another? As a pilot, which ships do you favor in a tech path?

Pressing QuestionsThe Allegiance Vault Board Crew is a very talkative group of pilots and commanders. Each with some very strong opinions, and plenty of ammunition to back their opinions up.
So, here is some fodder for discussion.
On the General Board, in the Allegiance Zone vs. Free Zone thread you can register your opinion about this question:
What EXACTLY are your opinions of the Allegiance Zone versus the Free Zone?
What do you feel the strengths of the Allegiance Zone are, weaknesses?
What do you like about the Free Zone, what do you dislike about it?
Oh, and for the record, Halberd is not jovial, but is in fact evil. According to the dark lord Halberd that is...

Review at Pc.ign.comPc.ign.com has a review of Allegiance. Here's a snippit about the community:
The other end of the multiplayer story has to focus on population and community. In this respect, Allegiance seems to have a pretty good following. I've found some pretty full games at nearly all times of day. I've even come into work at 8 in the
morning and been able to find a good game of forty players. Most of the games tend to gravitate towards the same sort of options (conquest mode with unlimited lives, eject pods and single investors) but you can find a few variations of the game playing here and there.
Allegiance scores an 8.2 out of 10 rating overall.

Vault Network Finds New Horizons
Horizons Vault launches with a brand new interview.
Set in a sprawling and varied gameworld.Horizons: Empires of Istaria is a far-reaching persistent online world being developed by Arizona-based Artifact Entertainment. Since being announced last August, it has it managed to garner both considerable interest and a very active fan community by promising to bring fresh ideas, novel twists and some unique races to a game environment that will also contain many familiar fantasy-based elements.
We were, of course, right at the front of the line for information when the game was announced, obtaining the very first Horizons interview. We have hosted the very busy official Horizons message boards since that same time, and have also been following development very closely.
Today, as we celebrate the opening of our new Horizons Vault site, it is our pleasure to present a new Horizons Interview with David Allen, the game’s Executive Producer as well as CEO of developer Artifact Entertainment.
As at our other dedicated sites, Horizons Vault will focus on the player community with complete game information, thorough community news coverage, the message boards, concept art, screenshots, humor, reader and community participation features, humor and much more. New content and features will be appearing on the site very shortly. Enjoy!

Review at Gamezilla
The lastest highly positive review of Allegiance is at Gamezilla. Here's a taste from the conclusion:
As a rule, I hate exclusively online games! I am vehemently opposed to paying $40+ for the software and then having to pay $10 a month to play online. Allegiance, however, is the exception. You can play on the free sites or opt to pay the $10 a month to get some nifty extras. Although the extra things are nice, my wallet (and my wife) will be much happier with me playing on the free sites -- the free level is challenging enough. It may take some time to master and feel comfortable with the controls and movement, but the combination of genres (real-time strategy, space flight simulation, group cooperation, etc) makes it worth the effort. For this reason I have given the game a 91 out of 100. It remains to be seen how the game servers will handle the expected hundreds of players at a time. Right now is the time to get on and play; I have yet to see any slow-downs and there is a lot of open space in the games.
Allegiance scores a hefty 91 out of 100. Thanks Blue's.
