Special Handling
Toys, electronics, and home improvement
items that are extremely oversized or weigh over 150 pounds are marked
on their product detail pages as requiring special handling and will
ship separately from other items in your order. The shipping charges
for these items are either indicated on their product detail pages or
will be calculated for you at the last step of the purchase process
before you send us your order. This service includes delivery within 7
days of shipment.
Please also note that each shipment of these items requires an adult signature upon delivery. Once your order leaves our distribution center, you will be contacted by the shipper to arrange a specific time for delivery.

If your order is being sent to a U.S. protectorate, you have two shipping options to choose from: Standard U.S. Shipping and, for express delivery, International Priority. If you select International Priority, your shipment will be considered international and will be subject to any duties and customs that may apply.

We are currently able to ship books, CDs, DVDs, VHS cassettes, music cassettes, and vinyl records to international addresses. However, Standard Shipping can be used only for books; orders containing other products must be sent via WorldMail or International Priority. Additionally, there is a good likelihood that your packages will be subject to the customs fees and import duties of the country to which you have your packages shipped. When will my order arrive?
To find out when you will receive an item, you need to consider the availability of the items you are ordering as well as the shipping option you select. Here's the equation we use:
For example, many items on our site show 24-hour availability. If you select Standard Shipping for U.S. shipments, your shipping time will be 3 to 7 business days, depending on where you live. This means your total delivery time will be 1 day (availability) + 3 to 7 days (shipping time). So you can expect to receive this item at your front door 4 to 8 days after you place your order.
What if my order includes several items with different availabilities?
Great question. You should use the longest availability time in your order. That's because, unless you choose "Ship as items become available" on our order form, multiple-item orders are held for shipment until all items are available. (For instance, if you order three items, and two have an availability of 24 hours while one has an availability of 2 to 3 days, your order will ship in 2 to 3 days.)
Choosing Next Day Air means my order will arrive tomorrow, right?
Not usually-you forgot to add in the availability time of your items. Say you've ordered three 24-hour items and selected Next Day Air shipping. The items will ship within 24 hours, then arrive on the following business day-two business days total. Also, keep in mind that there is no weekend delivery for Second or Next Day Air.
Example of Shipping Charges
Here are a few examples of shipping charges:
John orders two CDs and selects standard shipping for U.S. orders. He pays one per shipment charge ($2.00) and two per item charges ($0.99 each), one for each CD. His total shipping charge is $3.98.
Jane orders a book, a video game, and a home improvement item, and selects standard shipping for U.S. orders. She pays one per shipment charge ($4.95, the highest of those three products) and two per item charges ($0.99 for the book, $1.25 for the video game. Jane lucks out on the home improvement item; there is no per item charge for that).
Out-of-Print Books
Any out-of-print books in your order will automatically be shipped separately, even if you choose "Please wait until the entire order is ready before shipping."
This option is particularly useful if you have ordered items with widely different availabilities, such as a 24-hour item and a 4-to-6 week item. If you would like us not to wait 4 to 6 weeks until your second item arrives, choose the second option above. We will make every effort to send similarly available items together, though we cannot guarantee it. Note also that out-of-print books are always shipped separately, so there is no need to select the second option in these cases.
Please note that we may occasionally send your items in separate boxes even if you choose to wait until all items are available. This will not affect your shipping charge.
