COMPATIBILITY

The programs in the WebScripts collection are (unless stated otherwise in a specific program's documentation) compatible with both Perl versions 4 and 5. Perl is a reasonably portable language, and can be utilized on pretty much any server. However, as my scripts are designed for UNIX, they may require slight modification before they'll work on NT or other non-standard servers. Since I'm not familiar with those other servers, I won't likely be able to answer questions related specifically to them. But posting queries on the support forums will likely find others who are already using the scripts on the server type you're working with, and who can answer any questions that may arise.

INSTALLATION AND CUSTOMIZATION

I can't install the scripts for you on your server. However, I've attempted to provide all the information you need to get the scripts up and running in the documentation and FAQs files, and the support forums are available if you have other questions or problems. I also don't provide "individualized" versions of the scripts, though you are welcome to modify them for your own use in any way you see fit (so long as you don't redistribute them). If you're looking for a specific new capability or performance modification, though, by all means, feel free to ask about it. While I won't create a special version of one of the scripts just for you, if the request is likely to be of more general interest, I very well may work it into the next "official" release.

GENERAL SUPPORT QUESTIONS

Many questions are addressed in the program documentation files and in the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) files. Additional questions, comments, requests and bug reports can of course be posted on one of the support forums. You may also e-mail me directly, though unfortunately, as a one-man operation with many responsibilities in addition to the maintenance of this collection, I'm unable to guarantee that all questions will receive prompt, personal replies.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

The discussion forums here on the WebScripts site aren't, of course, the only such forums available to you if you have questions. Two in particular that are worthy of note are The NT Web Development BBS, Kevin Dearing's forum for discussion of NT-specific CGI issues, and The Jipes! Interactive Media CGI Forum, for discussion of general CGI-related questions.

If you're in need of scripts other than those to be found here, the best place to look is undoubtedly Matt Wright's CGI Resources Index. Matt also, of course, has his own Scripts Archive, which is arguably the best-known Perl CGI resource on the Web.

If you don't think you'll be able to find an "off the shelf" script to handle your requirements, feel free to contact me about custom scripting work. I can be reached by e-mail at burgdorf@awsd.com. The Affordable Web Space Design Web site will also give you more specific information about what I do and what I charge.
