About HandBrake:
A DVD-to-AVI/MPEG4 application.
HandBrake is a GPL'd multi-platform, heavily multithreaded DVD to AVI/MPEG-4 converter. HandBrake is currently available for BeOS and MacOS X (with GUI) as well as for GNU/Linux (CLI only).
- Features:
- Can encode directly from DVDs (even encrypted ones)
- Supports 2-pass encoding
- Supports encoding of two audio tracks
- Includes a bitrate calculator
- Supports picture cropping and resizing
- Known issues:
- Only handles AC3 audio tracks
- Only handles DVDs or DVD folders (e.g. it cannot encode a single VOB file)
