Protection
DiskGuard is perfect for Macintosh users who demand
unbreakable password protection, but don't want to
hassle with lots of security features they don't need.
With DiskGuard, you can securely protect any mountable
disk connected to your Macintosh (IDE, SCSI, removable,
floppy or individual partition). Protecting a disk
takes only seconds.
Some security programs require you to individually
password protect every folder on your system before the
data inside is secure. Others can be bypassed simply by
booting from a System floppy or starting up with the
Shift key down. DiskGuard covers all bases by offering
quick and simple startup security that cannot be
bypassed. And DiskGuard's security remains active even
if DiskGuard is not installed. This gives you an
absolutely secure way to send protected disks to any
Macintosh user, regardless of whether or not they own
DiskGuard. It is rock solid security that will allow
you to rest easy knowing your data is safe.
Secure Screen Locking
DiskGuard also gives you a flexible and secure way to
lock your screen from view while you are away from your
computer. You may set your screen to automatically lock
after a certain period of inactivity. Or you may choose
to set a "lock now" corner or "lock key" to instantly
hide your screen. Once in the screen lock mode, no one
will be able to access your Macintosh without the
correct password. And unlike some other security
products, important background tasks (such as remote
backups) will be allowed to run as usual while your
screen is in the locked mode.
Two Password Levels
DiskGuard allows you to set up two different passwords.
Log in with the master password, and you have
unrestricted access to your hard drive. An optional
user password allows access according to the
restrictions you define.
For example, you may wish to allow others access to
your Macintosh only during working hours Monday through
Friday. Or you may want to prevent them from using
floppies or from saving to a protected external drive.
Regardless of how you set it up, DiskGuard keeps
detailed logs tracking exactly how your computer was
used at all times.
Simple Folder Protection
Protecting folders is simple and efficient. One click
locks any folder you do not want other users to see.
When you log in with your master password, these
folders will show a key on their icon, but they will be
fully accessible to you (no additional passwords
needed). When others log in with their user password,
protected folders are securely locked and completely
invisible. Nothing could be easier.
Network Administration
All office packs of DiskGuard (5-pack, 10-pack,
etc.) are sold as DiskGuard
Remote. In addition to DiskGuard's security features,
DiskGuard Remote
includes powerful built-in administration tools for
networked sites. With
DiskGuard Remote, a network administrator can easily
install, update, and
modify security settings on all connected machines from
a single
workstation. Let's say an employee in Marketing on the
third floor has
forgotten his password? Or perhaps the new hires in
Accounting need
DiskGuard installed. With DiskGuard Remote, everything
can be done quickly
and easily from the administrator's desk.
