America Online, Inc. operates two worldwide Internet services: America Online, with more than 20 million members, and CompuServe, with more than 2.2 million members; several leading Internet brands including ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger and Digital City, Inc.; the Netscape Netcenter and AOL.COM portals; the Netscape Navigator and Communicator browsers; AOL MovieFone, the nation's # 1 movie listing guide and ticketing service; and Spinner Networks and NullSoft, Inc., leaders in Internet music. Through its strategic alliance with Sun Microsystems, the Company develops and offers easy-to-deploy, end-to-end e-commerce and enterprise solutions for companies operating in the Net Economy. The Company's 3 product groups are AOL Interactive Services, CompuServe Interactive Services and AOL Studios, and AOL International.
Financial Summary
America Online provides interactive services, Web brands, Internet technologies and e-commerce services. AOL operates two worldwide Internet services, America Online and CompuServe, and several Internet brands. For the six months ended 12/99, revenues rose 44% to $3.09 billion. Net income totalled $455 million, up from $191 million. Revenues reflect the growth in the number of subscribers. Earnings reflect a decrease in network costs and sales expenses as a % of revenue.
