Auto Record And Generate Test Scripts For Web Applications
Macrobot 1.0, the latest Web site testing tool from Watchfire (a division
of Tetranet Software Inc.) allows developers to record and replay testing
scripts for their Web applications. While no programming is necessary to
create scripts (scripts are created by recording desired actions using the
Internet Explorer browser) the scripts that are output can be modified by more
experienced developers, if necessary. Watchfire plans to release a Netscape
compatible version of the product in the future.
Scripts can be "replayed" as often as necessary, with new data
sets being introduced via a data-table spreadsheet. Multiple scripts can be
batched together into a single testing command, and scripts also have the
ability to test for the existence of specific elements or attributes within
the page, insuring consistency throughout a multi-page Web application.
When finished, the scripts produce HTML based reports that can be viewed
directly within the browser detailing such statistics as page load time,
script run time, and any errors or warnings encountered.
Macrobot is expected to be available by the end of January. Pricing begins
at $2,995.00 US for a single user license, with discounted pricing available
at 5 and 10 user licenses.
