Slackware 4.0: A First Look

Three weeks ago I reviewed Mandrake 6.0, and along with a lot of positive feedback (thank you!) I received many requests for a review of Slackware 4.0.

Last week I was fortunate enough to run across a copy while shopping for software and I immediately grabbed it.

I have to admit I was looking forward to reviewing the new release of Slackware; I used to use Slackware before I switched to RedHat (before Slackware I used SLS and MCC).

I was really curious to see what had changed... When you lift the package you can tell that there is a fairly hefty book included in the box; and if the weight was not enough there is a yellow sticker on the box: "INCLUDES: 345 page Linux Slackware Installation Book!"
