VMWare 1.1 for Linux on FreeBSD
      27 November 1999
Submitted By : Joseph Scott
Vladimir Silyaev made an announcement on the freebsd-hackers list that he's got VMWare version 1.1 for Linux running under FreeBSD. Check out the link for the how-to. Not all of the pieces are working, but this looks like it's heading in the right direction. Perhaps VMWare will see this work and actually make a native port for FreeBSD.

Quake3 Area Demo Test works under FreeBSD
      26 November 1999
Submitted By : Marc van Woerkom
We have Quake 3 Arena DemoTest working under FreeBSD! The framerate is not breathtaking, but it shows what to expect in the not too distant future when OpenGL drivers have matured. Steve Reid found out what was missing to make it run with FreeBSD's Linux emulation. He used a Matrox G200 card. I just confirmed that it works with a RIVA TNT card as well. It is likely to run with Voodoo cards too. In both cases we got 3d hardware accelerated OpenGL graphics, provided by the openproject.nets implementation of glx. Right now we are rolling a port.
