  Installing Linux on the Extensa 390 Models is easy, but a few steps need to be taken to be able to make full use of the system. Note that the Extensa line of notebooks was bought by Acer from Texas Instruments in March 1997. My Extensa still has Texas Intruments written on it.

• TI Extensa 355 in English and Deutsche Versions
  I bought my TI Extensa 355 in November 1997, mainly because of its low price. I didn't want to have a CDrom inside, it shouldn't be too heavy and not too big, and a good DSTN display is good enough for me, as long it can do at least 16 bit color depth. My dream was (and is) something like the Toshiba Libretto, but 3500 sFr. is a bit too much for a poor student :-) Ich habe mein TI Extensa 355 Ende 1997 gekauft, vor allem, weil es relativ preiswert ist. Ausserdem wollte ich kein internes CDrom-Laufwerk, das Notebook sollte nicht allzu gross und nicht zu schwer sein und ein gutes DSTN Display reicht mir alleweil, solange ich nur mindestens 16 Bit Farbtiefe erreiche. Mein Traummodell wäre allerdings nach wie vor sowas wie das Toshiba Libretto, aber 3500 Fr., na ja... vielleicht doch etwas viel für einen armen Studenten :-)
