Dynamic HTML Sample Code
NAVIGATOR SPECIFIC
- Visual Dynamic HTML Utility (Requires Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher)
- The Visual DHTML utility is a web-based authoring tool to help you create your own Dynamic HTML content. This web application is written primarily in JavaScript1.2 and includes many useful features, such as "pre-built Widgets", "Drag and Drop", and a demo
to help you get started.
- Draggable Toolbar
- This draggable toolbar provides convenient access to webpages. The toolbar
can be dragged outside the browser window and stays persistently above other open windows.
- Dynamic HTML Checkbox
- This example allows you to create a check box containing some arbitrary HTML. It demonstrates how objects can help you re-use code.
- Drag And Drop Component
- This sample code lets you create dragable layers with minimal coding.
- Another Drag And Drop Component
- This example is an extension of the previous one. The component cannot be dragged
directly, but creates a new layer the user can then drag away and drop.
- Dynamic Scrollbar Component
- This sample code adds scrollbars to a layer or a CSS-P container. It is much more configurable than default frame or window scrollbars.
- Dynamically Manipulating CSSP-Positioned HTML Elements
- This sample code demonstrates how to move a positioned HTML element and modify its clipping area from JavaScript. It also
demonstrates the appealing visual effect of opening "blinds" over the HTML element.
- Dynamic Fonts Multiple Language Support
- This example shows the potential of Dynamic Fonts for providing multiple language support without requiring additional
software or operating systems. This allows for content providers and enterprises to publish platform independent mixed language
documents that can be viewed by anyone with Communicator. Click here to view the source code.
- Displaying Pages That Contain Frames Within Frames
- This HTML code shows how to display frames within frames.
- Grow To Function
- This function will dynamically change the clipping rectangle so that a positioned element appears to grow to a specified dimension.
- More Layering Examples
- Find examples on how to make your Web page look as if a visual element is sliding across it, make a curtain close across your
page, or have a "spotlight" sweep across an image in Scripting Layer Effects and Transitions, a new article in
View Source.
- Menu Trees Using Dynamic HTML
- This example shows how Dynamic HTML can be used to build an expandable and
collapsable menu tree, where branches can be images or text.
- Newsbox Object
- This cut and paste code allows you to add a "news box" which vertically scrolls content such as headline news by adding
just two lines of code to your webpage. The news box momentum can be changed if the user "flings" the box.
- Ticker Object
- By cutting and pasting this code example you can add a ticker to a webpage with just two
lines of HTML code. The ticker scrolls the contents of a specified HTML file. The ticker is draggable and the momentum can
be changed if the user "flings" the tape.
CROSS-BROWSER
- DHTML Toolbars: An Interface Users Will Recognize
- The Web browser that you're using to read this was designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Now, using the new JavaScript DHTML Toolbars library in this TechNote, you can create toolbars for your Web pages that function identically to the built-in Communicator toolbars.
- JavaScript DHTML Collapsible Lists
- Collapsible lists have been available for a long time, but now DHTML makes it possible to create more functional and more adaptable lists. With the JavaScript DHTML Collapsible List library included with this TechNote, you can create DHTML collapsible lists easily, giving you the functionality you need with the styling you want.
- Drifting Layers: Keeping Important Elements Visible
- Drifting layers maintain their position relative to the top of the window regardless of scrolling. They can be useful for product branding or for minimizing scrolling by keeping important interface elements visible. This TechNote includes a JavaScript library and an explanation of how to incorporate drifting layers on your Web pages.
- The JavaScript Menu Component
- Gary Smith shows you how to build cross-browser menus for your web application
using JavaScript techniques he utilized to build the Netscape Open Studio site.
- Opening A Full Screen Window Or A Small Window Based On A User's Screen Resolution
- The new JavaScript functionality of the screen object allows you to gain much more control of the Navigator window. This
code example shows how to open a window to the user's full screen size with no toolbars showing. It also shows how to open windows
of a specific size in a given screen location dependent on the user's screen resolution.
- Solar System
- A demo of our Solar System. You can do a "View Source" to get full source code showing how this was done. Uses rotating objects.
- Dynamic Headline Fader
- How to create a DHTML news headline fader using an external text file.
- Cross-Browser Hierarchical Menus
- Popup site navigation for both DHTML browsers.
- Expandable Outlines
- Learn how to create a cross-browser expandable/collapsable outline.
- Dynamic Fonts Typefaces
- The Bitstream site shows how dynamic fonts allow designers to use the typefaces they grew comfortable with in the print world
on the web to excellent effect. It also serves as a handy guide to various examples and bits of information about their TrueDoc
technology. Click here to view the source
code.
