Gary Downing is a JavaTM Technology Evangelist who joined Sun in 1985. He has actively been involved in distributed computing from the advent of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) to Java Remote Method Invocation (RMI). The evolution from CORBA systems to JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) leads Gary to guide developers architecting component-based distributed object applications in a real-world Internet environment.
