ConnectionSM (JDC) is free and provides access
to many services and programs to help you develop your applications. These
services include: technical support information, discussion forums, training,
early access to software, newsgroups, bug reporting, and JDC Email.
How To Join
To join the JDC, fill out the registration form.
Technical Support Search
You can look up answers to technical questions by searching the JDC knowledge
base with the search engine. The search also includes any articles or
training material that contains your search keywords. In addition, you may want to
read the Java Live and Code Clinic discussion forums transcripts covering your area of
interest.
If you need incident-based technical support, we recommend the Sun
Developer Support program(SDS). There is a link to the SDS web site within the JDC.
Discussion Forums
As a JDC member, you can join live discussion forums, including
Java Live, an engineering roundtable. The forums are scheduled, moderated
events where JavaSoft engineers and industry leaders present short talks,
and field questions on intermediate and advanced topics. Discussion
topics are selected according to the interests of Java Developer Connection
members. In addition, there are Code Clinic sessions and Training
Office Hours. Private forums are available for peer-to-peer discussions where
you can collaborate with fellow developers who share your interests.
Training
JDC membership also offers online classes on intermediate and advanced Java
topics, with specially designed materials and exercises. Instructors are
available to answer questions during Office Hours.
Discounts on training courses from Sun Educational Services, and other
training providers are also available. A sampling of the courses includes:
Introduction to Java Programming, Advanced Java Programming Workshop,
and Java for C++ Programmers.
Information About Java Technology
The Technical Articles section offers feature articles and interviews covering the
following: programming, sample code for building applets and applications,
enterprise computing, insights from Sun insiders, and important information about the Java platform and
programming community.
