Wilt towered over NBA
Wilt Chamberlain is all smiles after setting an NBA record, scoring 4,029 points in the 1962-63 season for the Philadelphia Warriors.
The numbers alone could suffice when describing the legendary Wilt Chamberlain, who died Tuesday at 63 of an apparent heart attack at his Bel Air, Calif., home -- 31,419 points (30.1 per game) and 23,924 rebounds (22.9 per game) for his 14-year career; 50.4 points per game in the 1962-63 season; 100 points in a single game. But Chamberlain's impact went far beyond mere numbers. He changed the NBA forever, and was one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century.
