Gillmor's report from Next Generation Web Services Conference

Last week, Infoworld hosted the Next Generation Web Services conference in San Francisco, CA. Keynoting was Dave Winer, the coauthor of SOAP and the architect of Radio Userland. San Jose Mercury News's Dan Gillmor described Winer's keynote, highlighting the importance of simplicity and interoperability.

W3C launches Web Services Activity

The World Wide Web Consortium has created a new Web Services activity. As Ed Dumbill points out in a brief note on XMLHack, the working group is chartered to cover service description, which is currently addressed by the highly criticized WSDL.
