Don't Get Caught On The Net Without A Guide

Infoseek's New Free Product, Infoseek Guide, Now Available

SANTA CLARA, CA (November 27, 1995) - Infoseek Corporation, which offers the most popular search services on the Internet, has just made finding information on the Internet even easier.

On December 8, 1995, Infoseek will launch Infoseek Guide (http://guide.infoseek.com), the successor to its very successful free Internet search service, Net Search. Infoseek Guide offers the same fast and accurate Internet searching as Net Search, but has added a much wider range of Internet-related content and even more powerful navigation tools to make the Internet more useful than ever before. Infoseek Guide includes a searchable database of the full text of well over 1 million World Wide Web pages and all the articles in over 10,000 Usenet newsgroups.

Infoseek Guide makes the potentially overwhelming content of the Internet manageable by providing users a helpful starting point for their searches. Infoseek has hand-picked a comprehensive collection of Internet resources including Usenet newsgroups, Web, gopher, and FTP sites and lists them by subject area. Browsing through these subject areas is intuitive, and descriptions of each site help users understand what type of information is available on the Internet. When a user finds a particularly interesting site, Infoseek Guide's fully integrated search feature can find all the other web pages in Infoseek's comprehensive database that contain similar information.

"We've made Infoseek Guide a roadmap to the Internet that everyone can use and easily understand," explains Steve Kirsch, president of Infoseek. "By tightly integrating great searching with an easy-to-use directory, Infoseek Guide is a key innovation in the way people will find information on the Internet."

With over 5 million information requests a day, Infoseek offers the most popular information navigation services on the Internet and has a proven track record of delivering fast, accurate and easy-to-use products. Infoseek's outstanding search technology recently received PC Computing magazine's 1995 Most Valuable Product award for the best Internet Tool.

Infoseek Corporation, the leading information navigation company on the Internet, gives its users the ability to find and retrieve useful information quickly and easily. The company, located in Santa Clara, CA, currently offers three products: Infoseek Guide, a free Internet navigation service that is advertiser supported; Infoseek Net Search, a free Web search service that is advertiser supported; and Infoseek Professional, a subscription-based product providing access to numerous commercial content collections.
