2000 JavaOne Conference Call for Papers

JavaOne^SM, Sun's Worldwide Java Developer Conference^SM event, is the largest developer conference on the planet. Last year the conference shattered attendance records, and JavaOne 2000 event promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Slated for June 6-9 2000, the JavaOne conference is expected to draw tens of thousands of the world's best and brightest developers to San Francisco's Moscone Center. And for four days the city by the Bay becomes a showcase of innovation.

Previous JavaOne conferences have featured the Java^TM platform in everything from mainframes to automobiles to jewelry worn by attendees. Last year's Palm V organizer project let attendees use Java platform-enabled PDAs to manage their schedules at the conference. Nearly 7,000 developers participated and collectively logged more than 106,000 events. Developers also participated in a "hackathon," to create Java technology-based applications for the Palm organizers. Every year hands-on technology experiences are woven into the curriculum of the JavaOne conference and suspense is building about what JavaOne 2000 conference will bring.

In addition to hands-on technology development, the JavaOne conference features session tracks packed with lectures and tutorials from luminaries in Java technology development. Last year there were more than 600 speakers giving technical talks at the conference that also featured more than 180 informal Birds of Feather (BOFs) sessions, numbers which are expected to be topped this year.

More than 380 exhibitors packed the JavaOne '99 conference show floor, demonstrating a wide range of applications and devices. And the conference offered numerous other special interest areas, including a "Device Wall" for consumer and embedded devices incorporating the Java platform; an Enterprise JavaBeans^TM technology "deployathon"; and "Tank Wars," which used Java technology to operate remote controlled toy tanks.

The annual conference also draws press and analysts in droves. Last year nearly 600 press and analysts attended the event, covering the more than 180 announcements made by Sun and third parties at the conference. Hundreds of news stories about the JavaOne conference were published both in print media and online publications.

The JavaOne conference is the crossroads that annually draws everybody who's anybody in the Java technology industry.
