XML Standard Extension

XML is a standard framework for marking information so that it can be easily exchanged and reinterpreted across networks, including the Internet. The ability of XML to represent data portably complements the portability of Java^TM technology -- and because of this, countless XML-oriented applications are being written today in the Java programming language.

Java Standard Extension for XML

Sun announced efforts to develop a Java standard extension for XML. Through the Java Community Process, the XML standard extension will be an industry-developed standard Java API providing essential XML features for developing XML-oriented services and applications.
