ODBC Socket Server is an open source database access toolkit
that allows Linux (and other TCP/IP clients) to access
Microsoft databases such as SQL Server or Access.

TORONTO - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Team FXML is proud to announce the
initial release of ODBC Socket Server, the premier open source database access toolkit. Using
ODBC Socket Server, connecting to Windows databases is possible from Linux, UNIX,
Macintosh, or any TCP/IP compatible platform. ODBC Socket Server can be downloaded from
http://odbc.linuxbox.com/.
Released under the Gnu Public License (GPL), ODBC Socket Server finally delivers a solid,
well-documented Windows data access toolkit for all TCP/IP capable operating systems. ODBC Socket
Server uses an XML protocol to transfer data from the Windows NT ODBC Socket
Service to TCP/IP clients (clients for COM, C++, and Perl interfaces are included with the distribution with
source provided).
"For years Web applications using MS Access or SQL Server databases were locked into using
Microsoft Application Server tools such as Active Server Pages," said Team FXML, "we are finally
allowing developers to break free of proprietary technology and choose their development platform based
on their own specific needs."
