Future goals for Linux LatinoAmérica include the launch of a call center and an extensive Spanish-language Linux web site in first quarter 2000. Dateline November 16 Dallas, Guanajuato, Caracas -
Today,
Michael K. Anderson,
Cesar Villanueva, and
Tom Adelstein announced that they
have formed a strategic alliance for Mexico and Central America.
Mr. Anderson, CIO of Linux LatinoAmérica, the premier Linux service
company
in Mexico, announced that his firm has joined with Bynari International,
a global alliance of Linux consultants.
"Given the Caracas event, the economic activity, and Mandrake's
leadership in Spanish
language distribution and support, this is a highly strategic move
for both companies. We look forward to working with Linux LatinoAmérica
in one of the fastest growing markets for Linux in the world," says
Adelstein.
"The incredible attendance of Latin Americans at the recent
LinuxWeek Expo in Caracas clearly demonstrates the pent-up demand
for Linux and Open Source in Latin America," says Anderson.
"Latin Americans, unlike
Americans, have no national affinity for Microsoft products, and
are therefore not as tolerant of the poor quality of those products."
Anderson says Linux LatinoAmérica chose Mandrake because of their
extensive support in the Spanish language, and their overall international
attitude. "The language barrier has hindered the rapid growth of Linux
in Latin America; there are several groups attacking this problem
now, and we will be a major participant in eliminating that barrier.
Providing support, training, services and documentation in Spanish
throughout the area is a crucial step in facilitating the Linux
avalanche that's already underway," says Anderson. "Our call centers
will support Mandrake Linux, since we believe that it is the friendliest
and most adaptable distribution for Latin America."
Anderson's Linux LatinoAmérica will partner with Cesar Villanueva's
Prisma Opentech to provide comprehensive solutions for all of
Latin America. Villanueva is the Director of Bynari Sudamérica.
Future goals for Linux LatinoAmérica include the launch of a
call center and an extensive Spanish-language Linux web site in
first quarter 2000. They hope to provide Spanish-language
web resources in the areas of support, consulting, training,
business, and news. They will also provide support and training
for local alliance partners in Mexico and Central America.
