| Low End Mac Help
Desk* The best online resources are email lists (such as
Classic Macs,
Quadlist, Mac
Managers, Evangelist
), usenet (use AltaVista
search engine, but specify search usenet instead of web),
and sites such as Low End Mac. The Low End Mac Help Desk brings together a variety of
resources available to you as a Mac user for general
troubleshooting, technical support, and research. Email our Help Desk Volunteers- Below are email addresses for people who have
volunteered
there time to answer your questions. Before emailing them
you should try the other resources available on this
site.
- Leigh Scott
is a network manager in Australia, quite familiar with
AppleShare, and has experience with NetWare, GroupWise,
Freehand, Photoshop, PageMaker, and FileMaker Pro.
- Vincent
Crowley is a largely self-taught Mac user in
Australia. He's familiar with several older Macs and
System 7.0 (and newer) and willing to answer your Mac
questions, especially those about software and
troubleshooting.
- Manuel
Mejia is familiar with Mac IIs, LCs, and older
PowerBooks. He uses both a PowerBook 145B and a Mac IIcx
with System 7.1 on a regular basis. He also owns the Pina
books on repairing compact Macs from 128k through the SE
and is willing to look up answers. And he keeps a Mac II
with System 6.0.7 on standby so he can help out with
System 6 questions. (Manuel doesn't have a Power Mac, so
please don't ask Power Mac questions.)
- Dan
Batson is an SE/30 fan and offers his knowledge
to those with questions about the finest compact
Mac.
- Ray McKinney
specializes in making Macs and other computers cooperate,
especially on networks. Has experience with AppleTalk,
TCP/IP, and even Banyan Vines networks. Also uses NetBSD
(Unix) and DOS cards.
- Charlie
Ruggiero has used a lot of Macs, from Plus to G4,
and even ran a BBS (remember those?) on a Plus. He works
as Macintosh tech support and technology advisor for the
College of Education at Michigan State University. He
does a lot of hardware and software troubleshooting, as
well as a great deal of video editing, capture, and
streaming. Charlie is well versed in HyperCard, fairly
knowledgeable in Future Basic, and has a good background
in sound and video. He even has his own site, Edge
of Heaven.
- Jon Gaines
loves the ancient Macs. If you have questions about the
128k, 512k or Portable, drop him a note.
- Jacob
Kaplan knows a lot out older Macs and will gladly
share his expertise.
- Jon Harahush
(a.k.a. Rigby) has a lot of experience with the PowerBook
150, 165C, and LC III.
- John Sarzoza
Jr. has worked with just about every Mac made at one
time or another and runs his own consulting firm. He's
also well versed in the Mac OS, networking, the internet,
and more.
- Julie
Fugett is a part time help desk tech at the U of
KS and a 1999 graduate in Music Education. She has lots
of experience with dial-up and ethernet connectivity and
is familiar with a wide variety of apps. She owns a LC
580 and is quite familiar with the 500-series Macs, but
she'll attempt to answer questions on just about
anything. She'll also be in the job market very very
soon, so hire her, please. (Looking for an employee who
knows the Mac? Check out Julie's
resume.)
- Evan is very
good with Macs, and have been using II series and up
since first grade. At his elementary school, the teachers
would even come and pull him out of class to fix their
computers! Evan is also a regular columnist on The
iMac Channel.
- * Not to be confused with
Mac
Help Desk, an independent Mac
support site.
