Overview
As organizations grow and evolve, so do the demands on their database system. As the need for an enterprise-scale, high-performance database increases, organizations sometimes move from the file-server environment of the Microsoft Access Jet engine to the client/server environment of Microsoft SQL Server. The tools and wizards in SQL Server 7.0, such as the Enterprise Manager, Data Transformation Services, Query Analyzer, and Server Profiler, make it easy to migrate Access data and applications to SQL Server. This document describes how to migrate tables and queries into SQL Server scripts, views, and stored procedures, and it outlines methods to ensure that applications, once in place, are tuned to run efficiently.
