[Go to headline...]  Guide me through the rough patches ... <please?>
There are now heaps of giudes floating around... just what you need when you hit that certain snag in the game, come out at a loss as to how to improve your abilities or surpass this troublesome obstacle (cheating's cheap)!

I'm going to update the Guides section in the sidebar soon, but for now you can get your guides from this post:

These guides are pages upon pages in length. If you know of more, please use the Contact page to inform me of them, and I'll add them to the post (and the Guides page, when I get to it!).

[Go to headline...]   Stomping the bugs, finally!
Westwood has made a few rearrangements:

Firstly, their main page has changed a tad: with NOX news slotted in over the top of the TS: Firestorm rant. Obviously, NOX is being seen as a greater asset than the Tiberian Sun expansion pack (which has received mixed reviews).

Secondly, the patch has been released! Though they still recommend that you download it via NOX's AutoUpdate Feature, it's been made available for download in their Tech Support Section (not on the Official NOXWorld page). You can also get the patch from the Garden's Patches section (perhaps a little faster than downloading with the millions that inhabit Westwood's servers). The FAQ has also been added to the Patches page.

Eric, from PC Game Review, just sent in news of a "very thorough review of Nox". Check it out here!

[Go to headline...]  Patch Available, but none to readily
Unfortunately, though heaps of NOX sites have displayed the press release:

March 29th, 2000 -- Westwood's hit action-RPG Nox, which has received rave reviews from press and fans alike, just got even better. A Nox update, which features a slew of enhancements to both the single and multiplayer games, is now available. The upgrade will auto-install once a Nox player logs onto Westwood online. The update can also be downloaded from www.westwood.com and installed manually. The update includes over 20 character and weapon enhancements, many of which came from fan suggestions. A complete list of improvements can be found at www.westwood.com.

no one has been able to deliver on the patch as a file (neither the westwood site, the Official NOXWorld site, nor the pages that made the post (including this one).

If anyone manages to download it (it seems to be only available for the moment throught the AutoUpdate feature which automatically executes upon logon to Westwood Online via NOX), and save the file, please send it in.

[Go to headline...]  Europe Gets a Boost
Westwood has posted this on their main page:

March 24th: NEW NOX EUROPEAN GAME SERVERS ANNOUNCED!
Westwood Studios is proud to announce that it's new European NOX array of servers is now up and running in our London office. These new servers will provide for the absolute fastest game play available for NOX fans throughout Europe by offering a low latency connection without having to keep a connection open to Westwood's already popular North America servers.

Connecting to the NOX European servers is automatic. To ensure that you are connecting to the fastest server available, please ensure that your country type is correctly identified at the NOX internet connection screen. Good luck, and happy playing!

So if you're playing NOX in Europe and suffering unforgivable lag, pay heed: your prayers have been answered!

GameSpy Interviews Interesting People
That's what the GameSpy page says at least, so I don't deserve (all) the flack for conjuring that headline (small portions, only, people :)

The interesting people alluded to by the title are John Hight and Michael Booth, the executive producer and creator of NOX.

You people can check out the article here while I go out drinking :) It's my sis's birthday tomorrow, translation: Since I will be going out for dinner, updates will not be until early morning (2/4am-ish Aussie time - GMT+10:00 I think?).

NOX Tweaks For Geeks
If you've been having problems with NOX, or just want to see the game burning along at a speed that threatens to break the sound barrier, Westood's posted a new FAQ.

The FAQ details how to fix bugs, tweak game speed, and set up a dedicated server (the manual actually featured a misprint).

Get it here.

In With the New
The new layout for the page has reached a reasonable stage in development... so I'm making it available for public scrutiny.

It's been developed to work with Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers, utilizing a desktop resolution of at least 800 x 600 (though the final product will probably tolerate 640 x 480).

Check it out here, and write in with your opinions!

More in Store
It may have seemed that I've been slacking off lately, think again!

I'm starting to get sick of utilizing only half of my screen, and the sidebar's getting *really* cluttered, so I'm working full steam on a new layout that'll utilize the full potential of large(r) desktop resolutions.

Hang tight... I'm still going to be updating as much as possible over the next few weeks. I will also allow people to view the under-construction portions of this site, when I get around to something I like that's close to useable. Until then, I will still be posting breaking news, accepting letters, watching over the Forum, and filling up the files section as all the new NOX stuff filters onto the web!

Keep coming back... there's more in store!

BTW: If you've had enough of me ranting about new layouts and promising to keep the news up to date, CheckOutGames has posted the 'NOX Warrior Guide'. Thanks to VoodooExtreme for the alert.

Learn How to Score!
Scoring in NOX's multiplayer arena just changed a little. If you're not really on online player (or you flat out suck!), don't bother checking the changes. If you're a tourney competitor, sweat band strapped around your forehead every time you boot up NOX and barge, steel glinting, into whichever online arena will have you, then here's your poison - thanks to NOX Central's Message Board:

The post was made by Westwood Studio's WWRjack (Joe Howes).
