What is Search Scrub? Many users, especially parents and kids, have requested the ability to screen out adult content. Search Scrub is designed to filter out adult content that could appear during the course of searching for RichMedia content.   Furthermore, Search Scrub can be turned on and off from a link in the search bar. Here's how it works: With the Filter on, explicitly pornographic search terms yield no results. File and image descriptions that contain explicitly pornographic words are blocked from the search results. While there is no way to guarantee safety, Search Scrub dramatically reduces the possibility of exposure to adult content, and will minimize the risks inherent to children and teens conducting RichMedia Searches.  However, as with all adult content filters, Search Scrub does not work 100% of the time, and users could still be exposed to adult content inadvertently.  Because the search results contain thumbnail images, Lycos urges parents and guardians to supervise the use of the product by children.  For more information on these issues, check out Child Safety on the Information Highway by Lawrence J. Magid and the associated site National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Try it out for your yourself, and please let us know what you think. If you determine that you would like an even greater degree of control, you may want to consider an off-the-shelf product such as NetNanny, which we have made available to download.  Search: All Lycos The Web  for: All Pictures Movies Streams Sounds   Search Scrub
