PAGAN SAINTS
Flesh And Bone

This review first appeared in the July 1999 issue of
"VISIONS MAGAZINE"

It has been six long years since Flesh and Bone released their incredible debut "Skeleton Woman." I'd often wondered if the group with such diverse talents would ever release a follow-up. Lo and behold "Pagan Saints"-released on the Earthsea Record label and distributed by Platinum Distribution appeared out of nowhere for me to review.

The liner notes for "Pagan Saints" read: "For us, this music is about the loss and regaining of faith, offering the reverent and committed relationship between lovers as a path to spiritual understanding, through the human and earthly-we taste the divine: through our beloved-we reach ourself."

Along with original members Chris White-vocals, Peter Kater-keyboards and vocals, Cecil Hooker-violin, David Darling-cello, and Glen Velez-percussion, new members Randy Chavez-guitars, Paul McCandless-woodwinds, Tony Levin and Wade Matthews-bass, Timm Biery-drums and Geoffrey Gordon, Robert Jospe, and Michael Tirsch have forged an unforgettable alliance.

My favorites on "Pagan Saints" are "Where?" "Wayfaring," the somber "Dirge," "Come To You," "Threshold," and the magnificent "Faithful." "Pagan Saints" is the music of souls intertwined. The music of Home. Experience it. You will not be disappointed.
