TCPC Perl Modules Tour Training Course

Overview

This two-day hands-on course teaches how to use all the useful modules shipped with Perl. Information is also included on navigating the CPAN 3rd-party modules archive. This course is not about how to write modules, but how to use what's already there and avoid reinventing the wheel. This two-day class can be easily bundled with one of our three-day classes for a full five-day week of Perl training.

Prerequisites

Attendees of this course are assumed to already know how to program in Perl, but are not expected to be experts at it. The beginning or intermediate Perl programming courses, or equivalent experience, are reasonable pre-requisites.

Course Format

For most students, this course is best taken in its two-day, hands-on format. This allows a comfortable mixture of lecture and extensive lab time, with plenty of time for the instructor to provide individual help during lab work and to demonstrate solutions in real-time. A one-day, lecture-only version is also available at our seminar price.

Classes are expected to run no longer than six total hours of combined lecture and labwork each day. Lunches and breaks are not included in this six hours, so a normal class runs from approximately 9am through 4pm or 5pm, depending on the length of lunch and breaks.

Because Perl is a cross-platform programming language, this course is suitable for presentation on both Unix platforms as well as Windows platforms.
