Rebates take three different forms: a monetary refund, a special gift that comes with the purchase of a certain item, or an offer to buy multiple items and receive an extra for free. In each case, the rebate will be a transaction between you and the manufacturer, and it's up to you to claim the rebate after paying the Amazon.com purchase price.

Everything you need to receive a rebate is either printable from an item's detail page or included in the package received after you order an item. The terms and conditions of individual rebates vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. As an example, you might be required to fill in a short coupon upon receiving an item, attach the coupon to your Amazon.com invoice slip, and then mail it directly to the manufacturer. The manufacturer would then mail back a check for the rebate amount.
