ARINC develops software applications for government, commercial, and internal customers.
Our applications range from traditional client-server information systems, to web-based front ends, to powerful database engines. We have extensive experience in the development of communications systems applications and test tools, real-time applications that support system simulation and modeling, database-intensive business applications, and web-based solutions.
ARINC is focused on on-time, quality delivery of software applications. We have established a Virtual Software Organization (VSO) that pools 250 talented computer scientists and software engineers from across the company and the country into a virtual organization that shares common processes and methodologies. The VSO ensures rapid response to requirements and a team response of the highest-quality individuals.
ARINC is experienced in a variety of development and operating environments and specializes in Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT, and UNIX-based applications. For our information system applications, we have experienced Oracle and Sybase developers but can build our applications to be independent of the underlying database management system, ensuring portability to multiple environments. We have expertise in C, C++, Visual Basic, and Ada; web-based technologies such as CGI, Java, Java servlets, ASP, ISAPI, and Javascript; and scripting languages, including Perl, Python, and Tcl/Tk.
ARINC supports the full life-cycle development of software systems:
- Requirements. The success of software projects depends on a solid foundation of requirements. Our requirements analysts guide you through the requirements identification process to ensure that all requirements are well defined, that they are testable, and that traceability can be ensured. We augment our staff and yours with domain experts who understand your business and help you to engineer a complete software solution. We create the baseline documentation that ensures that the right solution will be built.
- Design. ARINC uses both object-oriented and structured design methodologies. We create rapid prototypes to enhance visualization from the user perspective, and we employ design modeling techniques such as Unified Modeling Language (UML) to provide sequence and visualization diagrams from the data and process flow perspective. We document our design to ensure that all requirements are allocated to the software and to maximize reusability and software supportability.
- Development. Our software engineers create well-documented, efficient solutions, with a focus on developing highly reusable and maintainable code. Our software process ensures quality products by incorporating an inspection process at each phase of developmenttop-level design, detailed design, coding, and unit testing. We use productivity tools such as Visual C++, Sun Workshop, Common Development Environment (CDE), Open Source development tools (e.g., GNU), and Purify to enhance code development efficiency.
- Integration and Test. ARINC unites developers with testers to form an efficient software integration team and provides independent testers for qualification and system-level testing. Our testers are highly experienced in the development of test plans and procedures and ensure that the software is properly integrated and tested in accordance with those plans. Through the use of requirements traceability tools, the test team ensures that all requirements are tested. We automate testing wherever possible and maintain a library of regression test scripts.
- Configuration Management. Requirements management is critical to the success of any software effort. ARINCs Technical Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards ensure that change control is properly managed. We use configuration management tools to manage the check-in and check-out of software and to maintain version control. ARINC ensures that previously released versions of software are retrievable and supportable.
- Documentation and Training. ARINC supports all aspects of the software development life cycle and produces the materials necessary for proper use and maintenance of the software solution. From stand-alone user manuals and training guides to sophisticated, interactive, web-based training systems, ARINC is prepared to support your documentation and training needs.
