Auburn University Calendar 1999-2000

Note: Text in italics refers to information for graduate students only.

Special Note:

The remainder of the academic calendar is tentative and may change because Auburn University will switch to a semester calendar beginning Fall 2000.

 

2000 Winter Quarter (47 class days)

Dec. 1 - Last day for completing applications for admission (including transcripts and GRE or GMAT scores).

Jan. 3 - Orientation for new students

Jan. 4 - Classes begin

Jan. 10 - Last day for acceptance of approved drafts of doctoral dissertations and last day to apply for foreign language examinations.

Jan. 17 - Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Jan. 18 - Feb. 1 - Submission of thesis rough drafts for format check.

Jan. 22 - Feb. 20 - Registration for Spring Quarter

Jan. 27 - Foreign language examinations.

Feb. 7 - Last day for submission of approved theses to Graduate School in final form. Last day for filing Form 9 (report of thesis-option final oral examination).

Feb. 8 - Mid-Quarter. Last day to drop courses. Future drops will be WF automatically.

Feb. 25 - Last day for doctoral and non-thesis final oral examinations.

Mar. 3 - Last day for submission of final copies of dissertations to Graduate School.

March 9 - Classes end

March 10 - Dead Day

March 11, 13-16 - Final Examinations for Quarter

Mar. 18 - Graduation. Last day for students to request graduation checks for spring quarter graduation (students must be registered no later than the fifth class day to graduate).


Proposed 2000 Spring Quarter (47 class days)

Mar. 6 - Last day for completing graduate admission applications

March 27 - Orientation for new students

March 28 - Classes begin

April 8 - May 7 - Registration for Summer Quarter. (dates subject to change)

April 8 - Aug. 20 - Registration for Fall Semester. (dates subject to change)

April 11 - University Faculty Meeting

Apr. 20 - Foreign language examinations.

Apr. 24 - Last day for submission of approved theses to Graduate School in final form and last day for filing Form 9 (report of thesis-option final oral examination).

April 28 - Mid-Quarter. Last day to drop courses. Future drops will be WF automatically.

May 19 - Last day for doctoral and non-thesis final oral examinations.

May 26 - Last day for submission of final copies of dissertations to Graduate School.

May 29 - Memorial Day Holiday

June 1 - Classes end

June 2 - Dead Day

June 3, 5-8 - Final Examinations for Quarter

June 10 - Graduation. Last day for students to request graduation checks for summer quarter graduation (students must be registered no later than the fifth class day to graduate).

April 8 - Aug. 20 - Registration for Fall Semester. (dates subject to change)

May 24 - Last day for completing admission applications (including transcripts and GRE or GMAT scores).

June 13 - Orientation for new students.

June 14 - Classes begin.

June 20 - Last day for acceptance of approved drafts of doctoral dissertations and last day to apply for foreign language examinations.

June 29-July 7 - Submission of thesis rough drafts for format check.

July 3-4 - Independence Day Holidays

July 6 - Foreign language examinations.

July 13 - Mid-Quarter. Last day to drop courses. Future drops will be WF automatically. Last day for submission of approved theses to the Graduate School in final form and last day for filing Form 9 (report of thesis-option final oral examination).

July 25 - Last day for doctoral and non-thesis final oral examinations.

Aug. 1 - Last day for submission of final copies of dissertations to Graduate School.

Aug. 8 - Classes end. Labs continue. Special lab sessions will be arranged on Saturdays (June 24; July 8, 15, 22, 29; and/or August 5) between 8:30-11:30 a.m. and/or 1:00-4:00 p.m. to have an academically-viable Summer Quarter.

Aug. 9-11 - Final Examinations for Quarter

Aug. 14 - Graduation. Last day for students to request graduation checks in the Graduate School for graduation for fall quarter (students must be registered no later than the fifth class day to graduate).


* Individual schools/colleges will publish advising dates that will be utilized during the University registration period.

** All 1999 Summer Quarter dates are tentative and subject to final approval prior to the printing of the 1999-2000 Auburn University Bulletin.
