Cisco Voice Manager

Product Overview

Cisco Voice Manager is a web-based network management application that delivers easy-to-use yet powerful solutions to configure, monitor and diagnose voice-over-IP (VoIP) network.

Cisco Voice Manager empowers network administrators to install, control and lower the overall cost of owning corporate/enterprise voice networks built on voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology by enabling call quality management and call detail reporting. Built to scale, including an embedded web server, an SQL database, and completely JAVA based, it is a web-based network management application that delivers easy-to-use yet powerful solutions to configure, monitor and diagnose voice-over-IP networks. Cisco Voice Manager automatically detects voice-supported products, includes tools to troubleshoot network problems, and provides valuable call history information.

Key Features and Benefits

Cisco Voice Manager delivers complete end-to-end voice management through its web-based user interface. Network engineers can construct and monitor their voice network fabric.

Key Features

Cisco Voice Manager establishes connections to VoIP capable devices and gateways via an IP network. The communication between the Cisco Voice Manager server and the web browser clients is the industry standard hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) while the communication between the Cisco Voice Manager server and the voice supported devices is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Telnet sessions.

Voice Configuration Management

Cisco Voice Manager offers a powerful and easy-to-use real-time voice configuration tool. Through a web-browser a network administrator can automatically discover voice interfaces, query existing interface configurations, and modify Cisco voice supported devices over any IP network. Cisco Voice Manager configuration features guide the user through the tasks of configuring voice interfaces, parameters, and dial plan construction. Cisco Voice Manager also includes user-defined configuration templates and batch-mode configuration for repetitive operations.

Cisco Voice Manager performs the following steps to configure voice interface cards on the routers:

Monitoring and Diagnostics Utilities

Cisco Voice Manager delivers real-time data and statistical information to help manage and troubleshoot voice-over-IP networks.

Reporting

The primary requirement in managing voice networks is to provide the following: who called, who was called, what was the duration of the call, was the call completed and if the call was not completed then why not? It is also critical to know if the quality-of-service and quality-of-voice parameters were violated.

Cisco Voice Manager includes an extensive reporting subsystem to facilitate performance and statistical diagnostics. These reports include end-to-end call data records with time stamps and extensive call details such as source, destination, duration of call and other related parameters. Reports are displayed in tabular or graphical form, and can be easily exported.

Security

Security is a key requirement for a web-based management application. Cisco Voice Manager addresses the important issue of security by providing two levels of access and user permissions.

Cisco Voice Manager has two levels of user settings for voice security:
