First and foremost which is better to use? php or perl/cgi?
secondly, what i want to do is have records of updates in a database and be able to retrieve them and put them into my main page of my web site. could someone give me a bit of a hint(i'm a beginner)
last but not least, i want to have filenames and their url on my web server put into a database, and when the filename is requested through cgi/perl or php, i want to be able to have it get that file for the end-user.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
