Well, it would, but then it would be impossible to use bold, italics, or any other HTML tags. We knew that many (probablably all) of DevShed's readers are quite familiar with HTML and might like to use it in their comments.
It's hard to get a happy medium. I think a good alternative would be to have a Text/HTML radio button option. That way those that want to put in plain text can do so easily without being confused, and those that want to use HTML will be forced to format everything themselves. Let me know what you think.
