PHP3 Introduction
Introduction to PHP and web database interfacing with MySQL. PHP3 is an HTML-embedded scripting language allowing web developers to create dynamic, database-driven websites.

Perl is best for text handling. PHP is very, very good in terms of handling SQL databases and therefore best for serious e-commerce. ASP is o.k. but, mainly a Microsoft only type product like PerlScript. JSP is a very good competitor. Yet, back to PHP it is easy to get up to speed on coding if you know Perl you almost know PHP in my opinion. PHP was actually designed for huge websites. It is capable of being used on UNIX, WIN95/98/NT/2000, and LINUX not sure about Macintosh, I don't really use Macs. PHP's Session Management and JSP's persistence capabilities make it a knock-down drag-out match between the two. I still push PHP because of ease of coding! This is all from a Perl fanatic........til next time!
