According to our experience, 50 percent of R.M.A motherboards have no problems, which means the problem you have is actually caused by other devices or jumper settings. In order to save your time, here are some tips for basic testing. Please help us do the following steps before calling for technical support:

1. turn off power and unplug all the devices you have.
2. only plug in the power line, CPU and speaker, then turn on.
3. If you hear a long beep from speaker. It's means the CPU and motherboard are good. Then, go to step 5.
4. If you don't hear the beep, please do the following steps:
   • double check the jumper settings (CPU speed, voltage and type)
   • use another CPU or different brand of CPU if available.
   • some motherboard needs to boot up in turbo mode, which means need a jumper cap on the turbo switch before connecting to the turbo switch connector.
   • go back to step 2.
5. power off, plug in memory, power on. If you hear a different beep, it means the board, CPU and memory are good. Now, go to step 6. If you don't hear any beep or hear the same beep just like step 3, please check the following:
   • make sure you use same type memory.
   • make sure you use 2 or 4 pieces memory (some boards need even number of memory.)
   • make sure you plug memory in Bank 0 slots.
   • make sure you have pluged the memory firmly.
   • make sure you didn't bend any pins in the memory slots.
   • change different type or different brand of memory if available.
6. Power off, plug in VGA card, power on. Now, you shall see P.O.S.T procedure on screen. If you don't see video on screen, please do the following steps:
   • make sure you have plugged in the VGA card firmly.
   • use different slot.
   • make sure CRT connector has been plugged in VGA card firmly.
   • change different type or different brand of VGA card if available.
7. Power off, plug in IDE/IO card or IDE/IO cable. Now, you should see P.O.S.T procedure and the motherboard will boot up from C or A drive. If the board locks up before going to C prompt, please go to CMOS setup and do the following checking:
   • make sure you have the correct type of hard drive.
   • make sure you have the correct type of floppy disk.
   • make sure the IDE/IO cable has been attached firmly.
   • make sure pin 1 of ribbon cable goes to pin 1 on the card and board connectors.
   • make sure the hard drive you use has been formated.
   • change to a different hard drive or different cable line if available.

After doing these steps, if you still have problems with the motherboard, you are more than welcome to call us for technical support. We appreciate you for doing these tests. If you need technical support, please have the following information ready:

1. motherboard model number
2. CPU speed and type
3. memory speed and brand name
4. VGA card type and brand name
5. Hard drive type and brand name
6. software you're using

Q: How do I know my motherboard is Edom's product or not? How can I find my motherboard manufacturer?
Answer:

Each Edom motherboard has its model number imprinted on PCB and followed by an version number like REV. C. or REV.D. If you can't find this number followed by "MV" or "MP", which means the board you have is not Edom's. You can try other motherboard manufacturers or contact Award company (if your board is with Award BIOS) at (650) 237-6800 (http://www.award.com), or contact AMI BIOS company at (770) 246-8600 (http://www.amibios.com) for the board with AMI BIOS. You could report your serial number and date code of BIOS to them. They might tell you who is your motherboard manufacturer.

Answer:

You could find the model number on motherboard between ISA slots or between PCI slots. We always use MPxxx for motherboards with PCI slots and MVxxx for motherboards with VESA Local Bus slots.

Q: Could I upgrade my BIOS for some of new devices?
Answer:

It depends. Some motherboards have been discontinued for a long time. It's impossible to upgrade BIOS for these discontinued items. If you can't find the model number in BIOS download page, which means you can not upgrade BIOS for your motherboard.

Q: Why my system always shut off after 10 minutes?
Answer:

That's green function. You can setup this function in BIOS or disable this function. Some devices in your system like hard drive, monitor or cooling fan are green-functionable, which means you can save power at least 50% after system going into green funcion. You can press any key to bring system back and the software information and data will be kept in memory. We will recommand you using this fucntion if you need to keep your system on for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q: How do I know the voltage of CPU?
Answer:

You can find the voltage number on the top of CPU. Wrong CPU voltage selection might damage CPU.

Q: When I turned on system, there was no video display?
Answer:

50% of problems were caused by other device or wrong jumper setting. Please follow the motherboard basic testing procedure to check your motherboard.

Q: Why can't I use the new kind of CPU on my one year old motherboard?
Answer:

Some CPU with new functions or technologies only can be used on new model of motherboards. According to our experience, there will be a new kind of CPU released by CPU manufacturers each six months. Even the motherboard manufacturers like us sometimes hardly catch up with CPU development trend. So, don't try to spend your big money for the system of latest model because you will never be ahead of new technology. You should buy a system depends on your purpose of using.

Q: Could I use AMD 5x86-133 CPU on my MV035 rev. C or D motherboard?
Answer:

MV035(C) or MV035(D) can't support AMD 5x86-133 CPU if it's with old version BIOS. The latest verson of BIOS for MV035 is the date code 11/17/95.

Q: Could I upgrade BIOS of MV035 by using Award flash BIOS utility?
Answer:

No, all MV035 motherboards are with EPROM type BIOS. EPROM BIOS only can be reprogramming by EPROM Programming device. You only can reflash your flash type BIOS. All Edom Pentium level motherboards are with flash type BIOS.

Q: Can I use EDO memory on MV035 board?
Answer:

MV035 CAN NOT support EDO memory. You only can use EDO memory on Pentium FX, VX, TX or most 486DX PCI motherboard.

Q: What's different on FX, VX and TX chipsets? Which one should I buy?
Answer:

TX is the latest version of Intel Triton chipsets supported CPU with MMX function. FX and VX chipsets don't have this feature but you still can use MMX CPU on motherboard with VX chipsets. VX and TX can support 168-pin DIMM memory but FX chipset can't support it. It's hard to say which one is better. You could buy the motherboard or system with TX chipsets if you don't have to worry your budget. If you just need a computer system for simple use, motherboard with FX or VX chipsets might be the best choice for you. Besides, you could get a good bargain on discontinued items like motherboard with FX or VX chipsets.

Q: I tried to upgrade the motherboard from VX chipset board to TX chipset board but the TX board can not recognize my Windows 95 and CD-ROM. The windows 95 can not load basic driver like PCI bridge driver because the TX board can not recognize my CD-ROM.
Answer:

The Windows 95 setup under VX chipset can not recognize TX chipset setup if you didn't reinstall Windows 95. This is not motherboard defect. Please download Winp2x4.exe file and readme.txt first. Then, bootup your Windows95 by pressing F5. Excute winp2x4.exe in DOS prompt. It will fix your problem.

Q: After reading the information about the MP071A board, which I have. I'm still not sure if I can upgrade to the new AMD K-6 233 chip. The settings describe the mp071B board, I have the MP071A board.The home page of AMD to make matters worse doesn't mention the mp071 board. So my question is, can I use the MP071A board with the new chip?
Answer:

The MP071A can not support AMD K6 CPU because of CPU voltage and Award BIOS. That's why we re-design our MP071A to MP071B model. Please check your user's manual for CPU compatibility.

Q: I have a WIN Technologies (EDOM) 586 PCI/ISA SYSTEM BOARD (MP071b) and I can not seem to get my CORSAIR Microsystems 256k PBURST cache module to work with your board (Corsair, 58-00017, REV 8). I have even tried jumper settings not in the mother board manual. Is this clep module incompatible with your board(s)? If so, is there anything short of a new motherboard or pburst module that I can do to rectify this situation?
Answer:

The MP071b you have should be with 256k Pipeline burst cache on board. To upgrade the board to 512K cache, you need to buy another 256k pipeline burst cache. Due to motherboard design, you need to buy this 256k pipeline burst cache from us directly. There will be incompatible problem if you use burst cache from other cache RAM broker. We have mentioned this in user's manual. If you need to buy 256K pb cache for your MP071b, please call us or email your phone number, our sales staffs will contact you soon.

Q: How can I use hard drive with ultra DMA 33 function on Edom pentium motherboard?
Answer:

MP080, W6LXB and W6BXA motherboard can support ultra DMA 33 function. Please download driver from Edom webpage and install into your hard drive. The read me file will show you installation step by step.

Q: Which model can pass YEAR 2000 Compliance?
Answer:

The following models can pass Year 2000 Compliance: MP071, MP080, MP081, MP082, MP083, MP086, W6LXB ,W6BXA and MV035 with AMI BIOS. For MV035 with Award BIOS users, you need to upgrade your BIOS to AMI BIOS. Please call our sales department for BIOS purchasing.

Q: Why your Pentium II motherboards are without cache on board?
Answer:

Most Pentium II CPU already have cache RAM built-in. It will be faster than the cache on board. That's why most Pentium II motherboards are without cache.
