Hiking Down Sahale Arm

North Cascades National Park is often called the Alps of North America. For they contain nearly half all the glaciers in the continental US (over 300), more 7000 ft peaks than the real alps and clearly the most rugged, isolated backcountry in the lower 48.

North Cascades National Park was established on October 2, 1968 since then, yearly visitation has risen to over 500,000 in 1998. The park has 504,000 acres of very mountainous terrain.
