Slave Zero
Playable Demo
Added on: March 2, 1999
Unlike most of the recent PC action game releases, which have had a distinctly lemming-like "me-too" quality about them, Slave Zero is really quite distinct from anything that has come before it. It certainly draws some inspiration from the Mechwarrior series (its director, Sean Vesce, was Lead Designer for Mechwarrior 2), but it is significantly different from that experience: for example, Slave Zero's setting is a bustling city (not the vast emptiness of the Mechwarrior setting) characterized by a totally interactive environment in which you can stomp cars, pick up pedestrians, and swat hovercrafts and blimps out of the sky. The massive differences in scale it incorporates certainly dwarf anything one might see in first-person 3D action shooters like Quake 2 or Unreal.
