This is an excellent script for those with a web board needing to make mass updates like URL changes previously posted messages. We recently used it to change our email address within the entire site. With over 1,000 pages we accomplished the change to all our pages in less than a half hour.

Change The Variables

There are none! Just upload it and run it! However you should place this script in a protected directory where you run other administrative type scripts you don't want others to have access.

Using The File Manager

First a word of caution. As with any script like this you should always have a recent backup of your files. It's recommended that you practice changing insignificant files before graduating to making directory wide updates.

Files to be changed MUST be (RW) or (RWX) when listed for them to be able to be changed.

When you run the script from your web browser you can enter the path to be displayed using the query string. If you don't enter a path the current directory where the script resides will be displayed.

Note: The "admin" directory or whatever directory this script resides should be an administrative password protected directory not accessible by others.)

There are 2 main sections displayed. The first is a hyperlink of your directory structure allowing you to navigate through your site with just a click.

The second section lists the files within the selected directory. Each file is automatically CHECKED for selecting files to search or change. At the bottom of this section is 2 possible actions you can take.

Entering a search string at the first prompt will search all the checked files for the desired string and display the line number where the string is located within that file.
