Charlie was
named President & CEO of the IDG World Expo group in
1998 after a 17-year track record of accomplishment with the
multi-faceted company. Under his
direction, IDG World Expo has become a significant player in
the trade show industry attracting a new generation of IT
events through the successful launch of shows such as the
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, the Internet Commerce Expo
(ICe), and Windows 2000 Conference & Expo. Prior to
leading IDG World Expo, Charlie was Vice President of Events
for IDG Expo Management, an independent producer of some of
America's largest high technology expositions (and a closely
affiliated company of IDG). Noteworthy expositions and
conferences included the MACWORLD Expos, ComNet, and
E3Expo. From 1981 to
1992, he served as president of IDC's Financial Services
Corporation, an international high technology market
research and consulting company which provides a variety of
strategic services to the investment banking community. Charlie
began his career with IDG in 1981 as an analyst for its
International Data Corp. (IDC) research unit. Among the
first of his many accomplishments, he participated in the
creation of the industry's first "Bluebook" for computer
technology (very much like the auto industry's version). It
included the first-ever model for projecting the residual or
future value of technology and quickly became the industry
standard for the investment banking community. Back to
