Welcome to the New Apple Support Home Page!

[Updated: 28-Jul-99]

How to Use the new Support home page

As you've noticed, we've revised the Apple Support web page and added a new more graphic look to obtaining support information and software updates. This page uses JavaScript* to reveal links as you roll your mouse cursor (pointer) over a product graphic.

For example, when you roll your mouse pointer over the blue QuickTime logo, you should see the following items appear, as shown below in Figure 1.

Figure 1
Figure 1

We've grouped product support content by family, with hardware on the left side of the page and software, along with service & support products on the right side of the page. To go to a link simply roll your mouse pointer to the appropriate line of text and click once. You'll be taken to the corresponding page in a few seconds.

Further, all of the product graphics are linked to the most relevant product support page. For example, clicking the iMac links you to the iMac Support Page. [Important Note: Until the AirPort products ship, we will link to the product pages at http://www.apple.com/airport/]

If you are looking for support with an older product, you should consult our Tech Exchange home page, where we've provided links to support pages for many older products.

If you don't see the links

If you do not see the links to content revealed, as shown in Figure 2, [or if you see a Go button below the Multi-Lingual Support Pop-up menu, as shown in Figure 3] one of the following conditions is true:

* You do not have a web browser that is JavaScript capable (Netscape Navigator 3 and higher, Netscape Communicator 4 and higher and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and higher are all JavaScript capable.) It is important to note that OmniWeb, running on Mac OS X Server, is neither JavaScript or Java capable. Therefore, you can click on the graphics to go to specific pages, but in order to get directly to specific content, you should go to the Support Site Index.

* You do not have scripting enabled. In this case, you need to turn scripting on. See "turning scripting on" below.

The alternative to turning scripting on is to go to one of the following support pages:

  • Click on one the product graphics (images) on the page, which will take you to the most relevant product support page. or example, clicking the iMac links you to the iMac Support Page

[Important Note: Until the iBook and AirPort products ship, we will link to the product pages at http://www.apple.com/ibook/]

  • If you're looking for support information for an older product, go to the Tech Exchange home page. Here we've assembled links for all product support pages and articles. the new Support Site Index which loads faster and is easier to navigate. The site index page does not require JavaScript.
  • [For those customers who like the old Support Site index, click here. ]

We grouped our traditional support resources, including the Tech Info Library, Apple Software Updates, Apple Manuals and the AppleSpec database. in each product category as we did on the previous home page.

If you're completely lost, we've kept our old Support home page for you to use for the next few months at Old Support Home Page

As always, we welcome your feedback on our new design.
