Your computer could start smelling like a rose or a garbage dump, now that two Israeli scientists say they have figured out how to transmit scent through the Internet. The system will use a device that recreates scents from about 150 basic elements. On the sending end, an artificial nose would pick up the scent at the source and convert it to a computer file for transmission, or a scent could be bought on the Internet, say the scientists. Every Thalia appliance contains HLT (Home Linking Technology) circuitry that's embedded in the appliance's inner workings. This HLT circuitry gives the appliance the ability to "talk" to any other HLT appliance. Most Thalia HLT appliances communicate using the electrical wiring in your home. Plug them into a wall outlet and they use your existing electrical system as their communications network. Other Thalia HLT appliances are battery operated and use radio frequencies to communicate. OmniUpdate puts you just one click away from directly updating your web pages, right in your browser. View any page of your site and update it right there, with WYSIWYG ease. The OmniUpdate service is free. It is not a website hosting service but rather a quick way for you to make updates and changes to your existing web pages wherever they are currently located. How does it work? You create an account and set up the correspondence between your website's web page server (HTML/HTTP) starting point and the file server (FTP) starting point using a wizard. When you initially start to update a page with OmniUpdate, you'll need to locate its file in a directory and click it to display the page. You then update it in a word processor-like window. When you save the update, OmniUpdate places a small OmniUpdate button at the bottom of your page.
