For Console: I use Mouseconfig and selected PS2 and set it to run gpm at boot. (for the cut and paste function)
For Xfree: I used XF86Setup, and in the Mouse selection menu I chose ps/2 mouse button then made sure I set the port to /dev/psaux and then use the emulation for 3rd button (my mouse is a 4.99$ mouse with 2 buttons) and clicked on the [apply] button under the mouse graphic that displays the buttons you press. (important to click on the apply button to set your mouse changes) I configured the rest (and it is explained in each hardware sections individually sorry!) Doing a 'cat /proc/interrupts' reports 12: 878865 XT-PIC PS/2 Mouse
