Help on Searching

Simple Searches

Simple searches may consist of merely one word, or, many words. Each word is seperated by a space. Let's take this query as an example:
         pascal

This query will return all sites that have pascal in their title or description. Here's another example:
         apache php

This query will return all sites that have apache AND php in their title or description. To the technical savvy, this is called a Logical AND.

Please note this: Your search will only match words in the title or description, not the URL itself. For information on searching through the actual URL, see the proper heading below.

A Bit More Complex

Let's say you want to ask our search engine to "Search for THIS_WORD or THAT_WORD." This isn't much more complex than a simple search. Here's an example:
         coke, pepsi

This query will return all sites that have coke OR pepsi in their title or description. Techies like to call this a Logical OR.

Searching URLs themselves

To search for words, files, etc... that are contained within a URL itself, you may use our Advanced Search page. For example:
         www.linux.org

This query will not return the site you're looking for unless you use our Advanced Search and check the "Search URLs Only" box.

Language Specific Searches

Our database contains many links that are written in languages other than English. To return results only in one specific language, instead of all of them, use our Advanced Search page.
