Best Breasts goes to the girl in the pink halter top...Hands Down!!!
(This is btw going to be a fairly long post, just warning)The show and the trip was Awesome. Dana and I made it to central Washington Friday afternoon and rescued Kailani from some RV park/campground. She was waiting for us there, talking to a Texan employee about their earlier life selling cocaine. She was happy to see us. She hopped in our car and we drove a few miles to George, Washington (No, I'm not kidding that's actually the name of the town).
The Gorge Amphltheater is basically the best outdoor concert environment imaginable. It's in the middle of nowhere so it doesn't matter how loud you are. Every single person there is there for the exact same reason, to see a concert and have a damn good time in doing so. And, there's even a campground so that all of the drugged up, stoned, horny, drunken youthfull party-goers that we're forced to call "peers" can continue having a good time into the late hours of the night.
We paid our $25 camping pass, walked back and forth between our car and the Ticket office a couple of extra times because SOMEBODY forgot to put their purse in the car :-) and were eventually ready to head down into the gorge. (This all of course after I applied a heavy dosage of Sure Powder Fresh deodarant to my
underarms...forgot my damn deodarant at home.)
Dana, Kailani and I are walking along the pedestrian trail (basically a huge gravel road) that leads us down into the amphlitheater when I hear Kailani give a very faint squeal and dart backwards. I glance down and there sure enough, no more than 4 feet away, is a rattlesnake slithering across the path(This was quite ironic because just a few hours earlier on the car ride over I was talking to dana about how I used to have to work around rattlesnakes, and, how I had developed quite the distaste for the poisonous bastards). I grab and stop Dana (she didn't see it) then stop 5 or 6 other people who were walking along the trial also oblivious (thank god Kailani saw it, could have been bad.) Some dumb-ass punk teenagers were like "hey let's catch it, let's catch it." (::sigh::) The concert staff wasn't to far away so we yelled to them and they took care of it. We continued on and soon became apart of the mass of skin(it was really really hot so everybody was skimping pretty heavily on the clothing...and yeah, you already know where this leads) that was headed past the ticket gates and into the amphlitheater.
The amphlitheater itself was really cool. There's a huge grass hill for people to sit on, and then the floor up front for everybody who wants to get up close and personal. The cliffs and river make an awesome backdrop, the sun sets right behind the band. It's a very cool place to have a concert. We walk down to the floor right in front of the stage, and find our other friends chilling in what little shade was provided by a side fence. Went and sat witht them for the next 2 and a half hours, entertained ourselves by making fun of everybody's outfits.
7:30, concert Starts. Everybody rushes up to the state to listen to Fenix TX. They're a strong punk band who managed to get the crowd pumped up without any problem at all. I'm looking foward to seeing them again at
Big Stink later this summer. By they time they finish playing Dana and I have pretty much lost everybody else. We decide to head up to where the crowd gets a litle more rowdy during the break between sets.
The girl upfront in the black was the first to start it. You see her rise up above the crowd on the shoulders of a willing soul. Then, the little clothing that has up until now held her bare chest invisible to our eyes, suddenly dissapears. Cheers and whistles follow, then another girl pops up out of the crowd, heads turn, and the cylce repeats itself....over and over and over. God, you've just really got to appreciate a good
concert ;-)
Bad Religion, an old school punk rock band, starts up the next set and the flashing dies down. Dana and I are getting shoved around like the best of them now. I do my best to try and protect her/help her out, but it get's pretty rowdy in there. People shoving you, flying above you, lots of fun. Dana has finally had enough, she leaves and I push farther into the crowd. I'm probably 5 rows back from the boards/security guards and I see a family friend Kevin Whitson, insane to run into him in the middle of this mosh pit. (Kevin is 6'4 and a good 240lbs, state shotput champion...a good friend to have in a mosh pit, I hang around him)
Bad Religion finishes, I have no idea where any of my friends are and Kevin heads out of the crowd, says I should go with him but there was no way I was backing out just before blink. It's dark, and more flashing commences. The girl in the pink halter top, the one I'd mentioned before is getting quite the bit of attention. Everybody is screaming for her to flash but she's kind of hesitant. She lifts her shirt up but the bra remains on, obviously nobody is satisfied. Finally she goes for it and at least 50 camera flashes go off. As I said before, she without a doubt gets the best breasts of the night award :-)
It's dark, Blink runs onto the stage and everybody goes crazy. By the second song I somehow manage to shove my way to a spot on the boards (very front row, only thing left between me and the band is this wodden barracade and a row of security guards.)
Blink was awesome, I love their music the show was great, I was completely stoked to be so close. Probably the best part about the band is their sense of humor. They incorporated some Eminem lyrics into one of the songs, and then they made fun of that damn 'thong song' by running out in nothing more than their boxers and shaking their asses at the crowd to the music. Damn good show.
My ribs feel like I've just been through a boxing match, my head, aching with bumps from the shoes of the crowd-surfers. Every time I touch my right ear it hurts like hell, my nose got smacked pretty hard by somebody's head so that doesn't feel to great either. My sunglasses fell victim to the stopping crowd, my necklace was ripped off my neck by the wandering hand of a crowd-surfer grasping desperatly for something to hold onto. At the end of the show I find Dana and Kailani, my shirt is completely soaked(I don't however have BO thanks to that Sure Powder Fresh). We walk back to the campground, don't manage to fall asleep until 3:30 and drive home this morning exhausted. "But was it worth it you ask?" OH HELL YES!!!
