The DiamondMax Plus family is Maxtor’s
7200 RPM performance line of 3.5-inch hard disk drives, featuring Maxtor’s
enhanced ShockBlock head disk assembly as well as Maxtor’s DualWave
multi-processor controller for enhanced performance. The new DiamondMax
Plus 40 drives feature capacities up to 40.9 GB, an average seek time of
sub-9.0 ms, a 2 MB cache buffer incorporating a high-speed 100 MHz SDRAM
memory for high sustained transfer rate, Maxtor’s proprietary DualWave
processor, and UltraDMA 66 for up to 66 MB per second transfer rates.
The DiamondMax Plus 6800 has capacities up to 27.3 GB, data transfer
rates to/from the media up to 33.7 MB/sec and a seek time of sub 9.0 ms.
These drives are exceptionally well suited for high-end digital video
and publishing systems which demand maximum capacity and performance
from a hard drive.
