Microsoft Developer Tools Interoperability Kit, Version 1.1
The Developer Tools Interoperability Kit provides development tool vendors with specifications and test code to assist in the implementation of the Microsoft^® J/Direct^™, Java/COM and Delegates interoperability technologies. These technologies give software developers the choice to build applications with the Java language that tightly integrate with software written in other languages and take maximum advantage of customer investments in Microsoft^® Windows^® based hardware and software.

Installation Prerequisites

• The Microsoft Developer Tools Interoperability Kit, version 1.1 requires Microsoft® Windows^® 95, Microsoft^® Windows^® 98, or Microsoft^® Windows NT^® 4.0 (or later) operating system and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 or later.
  
  
• Several of the components required to run the Developer Tools Interoperability Kit may be acquired by downloading Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM) build 3182 or later. The latest Microsoft VM downloads can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/java/download/32updates.htm.
  
  
• Developers running Windows 95 or Windows 98 need to have Microsoft^® Visual C++^® 5.0 (or later) development system installed on their machine.
  
  
• The Developer Tools Interoperability Kit requires a Java compiler. The Microsoft compiler for Java can be downloaded as part of the Microsoft SDK for Java 3.2.
  
  
• For users of internationalized versions of Windows, the Developer Tools Interoperability Kit is designed for the US version of Windows only.
  
  
• The Developer Tools Interoperability Kit documentation can be viewed in Microsoft Word 97 or later. If a copy of Microsoft Word 97 or later is not available, the Microsoft Word Viewer can be downloaded at no cost (not including connection time) from http://www.microsoft.com/office/000/viewers.htm.
