Summary
Developers familiar with Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE), the SQL Server compatible data storage server, can now package products in which data and solution coexist on one computer. With Office 2000 Developer, they can use Access 2000 as a front-end to give employees new, easier ways to work with data. Although MSDE comes in all versions of Office 2000, organizations can freely distribute only the MSDE solutions they have created with Office 2000 Developer. This paper outlines installing Office MSDE, creating a new Access database solution, and distributing the solution on computers across the enterprise. The paper also introduces packaging any MSDE-based solution using the Microsoft Visual Basic® for Applications Package and Deployment Wizard.
