ESPERANTO - THE LANGUAGE OF FREEDOM

In many countries, poor social conditions and political oppression prevent individuals from reaching their full potential and often affect their physical and psychological well-being. Through Esperanto, the non-national organisation S.A.T. helps people of the world to express themselves, to communicate and share their experiences. It helps them to develop a sense of belonging to a humanity in which every individual is respected and valued and in which everyone has the same rights.

S.A.T. is based on principles of understanding and of solidarity and is opposed to any
form of oppression. It holds congresses and distributes information world-wide.

Why learn Esperanto ?

  1. Esperanto does not belong to any nation and therefore all its speakers communicate on equal terms. With any other language it is always the native speaker who has the advantage.
  2. Esperanto encourages friendship and freedom of expression across frontiers regardless of race or creed.
  3. Esperanto is the easiest language that you can learn due to its regular grammar and pronunciation. It can be learned in a fraction of the time needed to learn other languages.
  4. Esperanto is spoken in over 80 countries around the world.
  5. Esperanto is the common-sense and cost-effective solution to translation problems in large world organisations.
  6. Esperanto does not threaten individual countries' culture or language but offers a common means of communication for all.
  7. You can begin to learn Esperanto free of charge with a ten step correspondence course. Once competent you can enjoy the world wide contact this brings. Esperantists following a variety of interests and hobbies are able to co-operate with like-minded people in other countries. The world of Esperanto literature is opened up to you. In addition you could attend various international meetings, including the S.A.T. Congress which takes place in a different country each year.

Why join S.A.T.E.B. (Sennacieca Asocio Tutmonda En Britio) ?

S.A.T.E.B. is the British affiliate of the non-nationalist world organisation S.A.T. (Sennacia Asocio Tutmonda).S.A.T.E.B. supports the aims of S.A.T. and encourages the learning and use of Esperanto in socialist, peace, trade union and environmental circles. Both S.A.T. and S.A.T.E.B. use Esperanto as a working language although English is sometimes used in the S.A.T.E.B. quarterly magazine ³La Verda Proleto² which its members receive.
