Max RAM on Wall Street
05 Nov 99 14:38 EST
A PowerPage reader asks about RAM expansion for the Wall Street. The lower RAM slot was intended for only 64 MB of RAM and the upper slot can hold 128 MB, for a max of 192. But with new 256 MB DIMMs, you can max out your Wall Street with 512 MB total (256 + 256). Note that the smaller cards are more expensive. Check with Ramseeker for prices and see Newer Technology for more information.

AirPort Base Stations, but No Cards
05 Nov 99 03:06 EST
It seems that the AirPort base stations have started shipping, but the AirPort cards haven't. Several PowerPage readers have received notice that their base stations have shipped already, but have been told an rough estimate of "maybe within two weeks, or perhaps next month" for when their AirPort cards will ship.
For many people, the AirPort card will be the last piece of the picture that Steve Jobs unveiled at MacWorld Expo NY '99, which includes the iBook, the AirPort base station, and finally the AirPort card.

AirPort for PowerBooks
05 Nov 99 14:45 EST
Another PowerPage reader asks about using PC Cards so that your PowerBook can access the AirPort network. You can use any IEEE 802.11 compliant card to access the AirPort network, and Lucent makes WaveLAN IEEE Turbo 11Mb PC
Card (Silver/Gold) that supports 11Mbps.
PowerPage sponsor Farallon's SkyLINE Wireless PC Card is an 802.11 PC Card which you might want to look at. We know there are several other PC Cards out on the market, directed primarily at PC notebooks, but we haven't heard anything about using them with PowerBooks yet.
