Rainbow Technologies Joins Entrust® Alliance Developer Program; CryptoSwift® Secure Server Accelerator Named Entrust-ReadyIRVINE, CA, June 8, 1999 a leading provider of high-performance security solutions for the Internet and electronic commerce, announced today that its CryptoSwift secure Web server PCI card is now Entrust-Ready and Rainbow has become an Entrust Technologies Hardware Partner. The compatibility of CryptoSwift with Entrust/PKI software gives users enhanced performance along with Entrust Technologies' award-winning Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology.
Entrust-Ready is the designation that applies to products and applications that inter-operate with Entrust/PKI. This product branding was awarded to Rainbow Technologies after their CryptoSwift product successfully passed the comprehensive testing procedure of Entrust Technologies' Hardware Partner Program.
"We're pleased to welcome Rainbow Technologies into the program following the successful testing of their CryptoSwift product," said Brian O'Higgins, executive vice-president and chief technology officer, Entrust Technologies Inc. "This Entrust-Ready solution gives joint customers the added-value of accelerating the public key and bulk data cryptography, while enhancing performance and preserving their software investment."
"Rainbow is proud to partner with Entrust in providing their customers with an enhanced public key acceleration solution," said Shawn Abbott, chief technology officer of Rainbow. "CryptoSwift improves secure server response times by offloading and accelerating the encryption/decryption function, eliminating the server performance degradation normally experienced with high-volume encryption."
CryptoSwift is widely deployed in Internet applications for e-commerce, brokerage firms, financial services and education where high-performance, secure Web servers are required. A single CryptoSwift card can handle up to 200 transactions per second and perform a reference RSA signature in 5 milliseconds. In comparison, a Pentium III processor at 500Mhz takes 15 milliseconds three times longer to complete the same operation. In real-world servers, CryptoSwift improves server response time up to 90 percent by offloading and accelerating public key cryptography.
