About RipEnc:
The fastest and most complete MP3 ripping / encoding solution available for BeOS.
While RipEnc works through the Terminal rather than from a GUI, it offers many more options than other MP3 creation tools available for BeOS. RipEnc takes full advantage of the database-like capabilities of the Be File System. While encoding, RipEnc will set your MP3 files' ID3 tags, and simultaneously write corresponding data to to BFS attributes, so you can sort and query for MP3 files in ways that are difficult if not impossible in other operating systems. No other MP3 creation tool for BeOS does this..
The first time you run RipEnc, it will make sure that your system is properly indexed for advanced MP3 queries, so you can create query-based playlists from the BeOS Find panel. Just drag the query results onto SoundPlay's or CL-Amp's playlist editor and save.
Technically, RipEnc is a "front-end" script for various command-line MP3 tools, including gogo, id3ren, and cdda-fs. Because RipEnc uses cdda-fs, ripping is not needed prior to encoding. Some assembly required (but RipEnc will guide you through the process).
